The Safety and Professionalism in Community-based Nursing Practice course uses a variety of content formats to describe the importance of and provide strategies for effective communication and maintaining professionalism to promote safety while working in the community. Appendix 1 provides further resources for trainers for incorporation of virtual educational resources into the design of transition to practice efforts to enhance the learner experience.
The Safety and Professionalism in Community-Based Nursing course is divided into 3 sections, with a quiz following each section. The sections are divided as follows: 1) Introduction, 2) Professionalism, and 3) Communication, with an optional appendix with further resources for trainers.

About the Author
Dr. Michelle Aebersold is a Clinical Professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing a Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Information and an XR Faculty Innovator in Residence. She is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and a Fellow in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
Dr. Aebersold has extensive experience in using a variety of simulation learning methods including Extended Realities to improve the care of patients through caregiver education and training. She has worked on a grant-funded projects using immersive virtual reality for training in cardiac arrest leaders and teams, practice readiness, oncology safety, and multidisciplinary collaboration to improve healthcare.
Dr. Aebersold has numerous publications, presents on a variety of topics and is often an invited speaker at international, regional, and local conferences. She consults with nursing schools around improving their simulation programs, developing virtual educational assets and other projects.
